"The Lockdown Before the Breakthrough"

Day 50 of 90 days Through the New Testament

Daily reading 2 Corinthians 1–3

I've got eggs in the incubator right now and we're officially on lockdown. If you've ever hatched eggs, you know what that means...No more turning, no peeking, no opening the lid. The humidity rises, and all you can do is wait and trust the process.

But today on Day 2 of lockdown one little egg couldn't wait. It pipped early! A tiny crack in the shell... a sign of life ready to break through. 🐣

As I watched that little egg move and listened to the little peeps, I couldn't help but think of what Paul wrote in our daily reading,2 Corinthians 1-3. He talked about how God is the One who brings comfort in our waiting (chapter 1), restoration when things crack (chapter 2), and new life through His Spirit (chapter 3).

Sometimes God lets us sit in lockdown seasons...quiet, still, sealed away so the life He's forming inside us can grow strong enough to survive the outside world. That egg has been developing in darkness for weeks. Everything necessary for life has been happening inside, even when it looked like nothing was happening outside. I get it, I've been there...

That little pip reminded me today that God’s promises don't stay hidden forever.

What He starts in the secret place always breaks through at just the right time.

Paul said that under the new covenant, we're being transformed from glory to glory.

That glory might start as a small crack, a flicker of movement, a single act of faith but it's proof that something new is about to hatch.

If you're in a season where it feels like everything's on lockdown, don't rush the process. And don't give up.

Trust that God is still working.

And when you hear that faint peck peck peck of breakthrough it's okay to get excited!

The Spirit is bringing new life, right on time.
