For the Tired and Faithful

Do it!

Reading these next few chapters of Exodus feels a little like dejavu. Like, didn't we already read this. It makes you feel like you lost track of where you were and somehow went backwards or started over again. And it kind of is. We have read it before. In a way...

If he called it...He'll complete it

When God asks you to do something he equips you, provides what's needed and gives you the blueprint. Thats what I love about Exodus Chapter 36. We see it over and over again throughout scripture too. Story after story where God calls someone to do something and he equips them for the job, gifting them with the abilities. He miraculously provides what is needed whether its supplies or finances. And he lays out the plan, step by step, sometimes all at once and sometimes in pieces but he never leaves them hanging. Waiting for a moment at times but never left out to dry.

How I come to God Matters

How we come to God Still matters. Exodus 28 is a detailed account of the Priestly garments that must be worn to enter the Temple and the Presence of God. But the more I sat here this morning, the more it hit me....this chapter isn't really about clothes at all.

And I'll be honest a part of me is like let's move on already, this doesn't apply to me...but it does. Just like yesterday the details matter and dropped in the middle of the chapter a verse stuck out to me.

Make Space For Him

In Exodus, God literally asks His people to make space for Him. He tells Moses, "Have the people build Me a sanctuary, so that I may dwell among them." Not because He needed a building, but because they needed a way to understand what it meant to make room for His presence.

Freedom Isn't Automatic

Okay, I'm just gonna be honest, when I got to Exodus 22 and 23, I had a moment. It starts reading like the world's oldest law book. Donkeys, stolen sheep, borrowed stuff, court cases, interest, neighbors animals and I'm thinking, Lord, what am I supposed to do with this today? I don't even own a donkey. Although i would like one and a couple of Emus and some goats too...
