Good morning...
Ever notice how the loudest thing in the room usually tries to take control...The one who screams and whines the loudest typically gets it's way right...
That’s Judges 9.
Abimelech didn’t wait on God he forced his way into a position. Connections, control, and chaos got him a crown...for a moment.
Jotham called it out. He told a story a parable. The good trees, the olive, fig, and vine were already fruitful, so they said no to ruling.
But the thornbush... It said yes.
Not because it could lead or because it was fruitful but because it wanted control. And that’s the warning for us. We don’t just see this in politics out there in the world, we see it in the politics of our own hearts.
Anything loud, reactive, and empty will try to take the throne. Fear, Pride, Hurt, The need to prove something, they want control.
But thornbushes don’t produce fruit. They just scratch, tangle, and burn.
Abimelech’s rule worked until it didn’t.
Because anything built outside of God might rise fast but it will fall hard.
The moral of the story today...Don’t crown what God never called. Just because something wins doesn’t mean it’s from God. Just because something is louder doesn't mean it's right.
