Good morning...
Judges 10 feels quiet at first. No big battles. No crazy miracles. Just two men leading faithfully for years. Not every season is wild. Not every calling comes with fireworks. Sometimes God is moving in the steady, the consistent, the everyday obedience.
But then here comes the cycle again.
Israel didn’t just slip this time. They went all in. Picked up every idol they could find and completely walked away from God.
And when they finally cried out God didn’t rush in like before. He basically said, Go ask those other things you’ve been chasing to help you. Ooooh that one had to hurt.
But lets be honest we've all been there. Where we knew better, but still picked up things that weren’t God. Leaned on things that couldn’t actually sustain us. And when it all fell apart, we cried out but God was after more than just fixing the situation. He wanted our hearts. Not just I’m sorry but I’m done with that.
And today it’s hard not to look around and feel the weight of all of this in real time.
My heart is grieving for our town.
A family is mourning the loss of a child after a senseless shooting right before what should have been a joyful night like prom. And now instead of celebration, there’s heartbreak and shock. So many lives affected in an instant.
And it makes Judges 10 feel not so far away.
Because we’re still living in a world where people are hurting, where things are broken, where choices ripple out and leave devastation behind.
And the one thing we all have in common.
We need God.
Not as a last resort. Not as something we turn to after everything else fails. We need to cry out to Him for real. Not just with words but with hearts that are ready to turn back, to lay things down, to invite Him into the mess we’re standing in.
Because just like in Judges 10 God still sees. God still feels. And His heart is still moved by the pain of His people.
And that’s my prayer today.
For that family. For every student, every friend, every teacher affected. For our town.
God, we need You.
Not just to comfort but to heal what’s broken in us and around us.
Because this world doesn’t just need better behavior....
It needs transformed hearts.
And that only comes from Him.
