You belong to the Lord

We're in Deuteronomy 14 - 15 today and Moses starts talking about being set apart. Not blending in. Not just doing what everyone else does. Living differently because you belong to God. And he says it pretty simply...

"You are the people of the Lord your God"

Like this isn't about rules for the sake of rules.

This is about identity. When you know who you are it changes how you live.

And then he gets into all these details, what they eat, how they live, how they handle things

and it could feel random if you just read it quickly. But it's really not.And even though it doesn't apply to us now, what it represents does. It's God saying, Even in the everyday you're set apart.

And then chapter 15 shifts it in a way I love

because now it's not just about being set apart in those ways but also in how we act, it's about how you treat people.

He starts talking about cancelling debts, helping the poor, giving freely, don't be tight fisted, don't hold back. It's easy to say we trust God but generosity really shows it. When you give, you're saying, I trust that God is my source not what I'm holding onto.

And thats not always easy.

Because sometimes you want to hold on.

You want to make sure you're okay first.

But God is saying open your hand.

And I love that this comes right after talking about being set apart, because it shows that being set apart isn't just about what you don't do it's also about how you live.

Today is a heart check moment.

God is asking...Are you living like you belong to Me? And not just in words but in your everyday life.

So today that's what we need to ask ourselves...

👉 Does my life actually reflect that I belong to God?

👉 Am I holding on too tightly to anything

when God is asking me to open my hand?

🎯 Today's Anchor

"You are the people of the Lord your God"

 Deuteronomy 14:2

Day 8...

And today is simple.

👉 I don't have to look like everything around me.

👉 I don't have to hold everything tightly.

I can live different because I belong to Him.
