Tear down Idols

It's Thursday...Spring break is almost over and I finally slept in today.. I needed it. But im up, getting my coffee and ready for Day 7 in Deuteronomy.

Up until now it's been a lot of looking back and remembering, getting your heart right and now Moses is saying, “Alright, you're about to step into it so let’s talk about how you're going to live when you get there.”

And right in the middle of Chapter 12 this scripture stuck out to me... “Today all of you are doing as you please... because you have not yet arrived...” (Deut. 12:8–9) And sometimes I like to think I have..It feels good when my GPS Tells me I have even though I know I haven't really.

We're still in between right now. But when we step into what God has for us things can't stay the same.

And God is really clear here. When you go into that land tear down their altars, destroy their sacred places, don't worship like they worship. Don't study it, Don't adapt to it, Don't mix it in. Get rid of it.

And at first that can feel a little intense but the more you think about it, the more it makes sense. God knows how easy it is for us to pick things up without even realizing it. We don’t always run after other things, Sometimes we just slowly let them in. Little compromises.

Little shifts. Things that don't seem like a big deal at first. And before long, what was supposed to be set apart starts to look like everything else.

And that's what He's protecting them from.

He's telling them, Don't carry that into where I'm taking you. We just talked about this last night at church in Nehemiah. About fortifying the walls, guarding our hearts and our minds.

Not because we're afraid but because we need to protect what matters. And if you don't tear some things down you'll end up building around them and start maintaining what you tried to manage.

There are things that might have been "normal"before. Old mindsets, habits, ways of thinking, that just don't belong in the place God is taking you. And it's not about rules, It's about protecting what God is building.

Then chapter 13 just takes it even deeper because it’s not just places or practices it,'s people and voices too. Even if it's someone close to you, if it pulls you away from God don't follow it. That’s not always easy. But not everything gets to come with you into the promise.

Today feels like a line in the sand for me.

What do I need to tear down and stop managing. Not ignore but Tear down.

So here's our questions for today...

👉 Is there anything I've let stay that God is asking me to remove?

And

👉 What do I need to fortify, not out of fear but because it matters?

🎯 Today’s Anchor

"Do not worship the Lord your God in their way" Deuteronomy 12:4

Day 7...

And this one feels perfectly clear.

👉 Don't mix what God is doing in my life with everything else.

👉 I'm tearing down what doesn't belong.

👉 And I'm protecting what He's building.

Because where I'm going, I don't need no roads, wait wrong Script.... Where we're going... It matters.
