Heart Check

Gooood Morning....

So here we are day 3 in Genesis. So the flood is over. The ark is empty.Everyone made it.

And now what?

God puts a rainbow in the sky as a promise. Not because Noah asked for it, but because God knows we need reminders. I love that. God didn't just save them, He reassured them. And sometimes i need alot of reassurance.

But then Noah messes up(as we all do right). His family gets messy. Things aren't perfect. That tells me that making it through the storm doesn't mean you suddenly have it all together.Healing is often slower than the rescue. The flood may end in a moment but the work God does in us takes time.

Then comes the Tower of Babel. They weren't building something bad. They were working together. Being productive. Doing something impressive. But their hearts were revealed in one sentence "Let us make a name for ourselves." Ooooh..and thats it right there... I've caught myself there before.

Sometimes we build because God asked us to.

Sometimes we build because we're scared of being forgotten, scattered, or unseen.

God wasn't mad that they were building. He just didn't want to be left out of it. Because anything built to protect our pride instead of our trust in God will eventually crumble.

So maybe the question for us isn't what are we building, but why.

The flood might be over in your life.

The rainbow is already there.

Now it's just time for a simple heart check.

Are we building something with God....

or trying to prove something without Him?
