Breaking the Box

Day 34 of 90 days Thru the Old Testament

Daily Reading Acts 10 -12

Have you ever caught yourself putting God in a box?

I hate to admit it, but I’ve done it more than once.

Peter did too. He loved Jesus, preached the gospel, healed the sick but he still had this box in his mind about who was “in” and who was “out.” Then one day, God gave him a vision that wrecked every label and limitation he thought he understood. A sheet came down from heaven filled with all kinds of animals Peter had spent his life avoiding, and God said, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” Peter’s response? “No way, Lord.” He didn’t realize that “no” and “Lord” don’t really belong in the same sentence.

You see, God was getting ready to do something bigger. He was sending Peter to a man named Cornelius,  a Gentile, someone Peter would’ve never picked to go to on his own, to show that the gospel wasn’t just for one group of people, but for everyone.

I can’t help but think how many times God’s tried to do the same thing with me.There’ve been moments where I’ve looked at a person, a place, or even a season of my life and thought, “That can’t be God.” Only to find out later,  that’s exactly where He was moving. Exactly where he was moving me!

Sometimes, the place that feels most uncomfortable is the one God’s calling you into. Sometimes, the people you least expect to connect with are the ones God is wanting to connect you with.

Peter had to step out of his box and when he did, the Holy Spirit fell in a whole new way.

God’s asking us to do the same.

To stop deciding who’s worthy of grace.

To stop assuming what God can’t use.

To open the door and step into something that doesn’t look like what you imagined  but it’s Gods plan and He’s already there waiting.

So today, if God’s nudging you to love someone different, to serve somewhere new, or to see beyond your old boundaries, don’t fight it. Don’t box Him in.

He doesn’t live in our boxes.

He breaks them wide open.

Love Pastor Mandy
