He Had to leave

He had to leave, but His work was far from over.

As I stepped into the book of Acts this week, I’ll be honest it hit me with a little sadness. Jesus had just left the disciples. I can almost imagine how quiet that moment must’ve felt. The One who walked beside them, who spoke life into every moment, who calmed their storms and washed their feet was gone. And if I’m being real, I’ve had those moments too when it feels like God went quiet, when His presence seems distant, and I start wondering if I’m walking this road alone.

But then, I kept reading  and it’s like I heard Him whisper, “You’re not alone, you never were.”

Because Jesus didn’t leave them empty handed. He had to leave so that Holy Spirit could come. And when He came, everything changed. Yes, the Spirit came to comfort, to guide, to teach but He also came to fill. To fill us with power. That same resurrection power that turned fishermen into preachers, doubters into believers, and ordinary people into world changers. The power of the Holy Spirit wasn’t just for the upper room, it’s for my living room, my workplace, my community, and every place my feet touch.

He left so we could go.

Go into the highways and the byways.

Go into the messy, broken, beautiful world around us.

Go and compel them to come.

The Book of Acts isn’t just their story, it’s mine. It’s yours. We’re living it out right now, one act at a time. And every time we step out in faith, every time we love someone who doesn’t deserve it, every time we share the hope of Jesus we keep writing the story.

Because He may have left the earth that day, but His Spirit still moves through us. And the work He began? It’s not over, not even close.
