This morning we're in 1 Samuel Chapters 9-10 and we get pur first glimpse of Saul, the who would be the King Israel asked for.
As I read these chapters, I couldn't stop thinking about how many people are waiting for some giant supernatural sign while ignoring the ordinary places where God is already working.
Saul's journey to the throne started with missing donkeys. Moses was tending sheep. David was watching sheep. Gideon was hiding in a winepress. The disciples were fishing. God has a habit of showing up in the most ordinary places. The places we'd never expect.
But the verse that really stuck out to me was
"He is hiding among the baggage." I wonder how many of us know God is calling us forward, but we're still hiding behind baggage. Old hurts, old fears, old failures, or old labels. We don't feel good enough even though we know he's called us to it.
The good news is that God's calling is bigger than our baggage. And if God can find a future king hiding in the baggage, He can find us too.
