If you've been reading through the Bible with us, today's chapters probably sounded familiar. That's because they are. Chronicles isn't telling us a new story. It's reminding us of one we've already read.
But Why?
Because we are people who forget.
We forget God's faithfulness when life gets hard. We forget His promises when the waiting gets long. We forget the victories He's already given us when we're standing in front of a new battle. So God reminds us.
He reminds us that David wanted to build Him a house, but God had an even bigger plan. He reminds us of His covenant with David, a promise that would ultimately be fulfilled through Jesus. And He reminds us that the Lord gave David victory wherever he went.
These weren't just stories for Israel to remember. They're reminders for us too. That the same God who was faithful then is still faithful today. The same God who kept His promises to David still keeps His promises to us. The same God who gave victory then is still fighting for His people now.
That's exactly why Chronicles was written not because God's people needed new information, but because they needed a fresh reminder.
And so do we.
Today, don't just read these chapters as history. Read them as a reminder that the God you've trusted before is still worthy of your trust today. He hasn't changed, and neither have His promises.
Take a moment today to remember. Write down one promise God has fulfilled in your life or one time He carried you through something you couldn't have handled on your own. Let yesterday's faithfulness strengthen your faith for today.
