Remember How God Led You

Today Moses is sitting there with the Children of Israel knowing they're about to step into everything they've been waiting for and instead of getting them all excited, he's like, Hold on, before you go any further...

And he reminds them again, God didn't choose you because you were the strongest, Or the best, or because you had it all together.

You were actually the least.

I don't know about you but I can totally relate. I still catch myself sometimes thinking I need to be enough for God to do something in my life. Like I need to have it all together first. And He's like, Nope, I chose you because I chose you. That is enough.

And then Moses starts talking about the wilderness and not in a way that's like, ugh remember how bad that was. But almost like,

Don't forget that part. Remember how the Lord led you. There was purpose in that season. And I think a lot of us just want to get out of the wilderness, we don't really want to look back at it. We want to survive it the best we can, get out and never look back.

But I actually had a conversation just yesterday with a friend, and I told her something that I needed to hear too.... There was purpose in the pain. God allows us to walk through things, not to tear us down,

but to grow us to prepare us. So that when we step into what He has for us, we're actually ready for it.

And that's exactly what Moses is saying here. That season wasn't random, It wasn't wasted. God was teaching them how to depend on Him. How to trust Him. How to keep going when they didn't have control.

The hardest seasons in my life are the ones that changed me the most. Not the ones I would've picked. Not the ones I'd want to do all over again. But the ones where I had to lean on God in a way I hadn't before.

And then Moses says, When you get into the land, when things are good, when life feels full and gets busy...Don't forget.

I think that's the part we don't always think about. Because it's easy to stay close to God when you need Him but it takes intention to stay close when everything is going right.

And I don't want to lose that. I don't want to walk through everything God has brought me through and then get comfortable and slowly drift away from him.Looking back, I can see now how much God did in the seasons I didn't understand at the time. And I don’t want to forget that just because life looks different now.

So today lets ask ourselves...

👉 What did God teach us in the hard seasons that we still need right now?

👉 Are we staying close to Him even when we don't feel a desperate need for Him?

"Remember how the Lord your God led you"

Deuteronomy 8:2

Day 4....

And it just feels like God gently reminding us...

"Don’t forget what that season did in you, that's what's going to carry you into the next one."
