Today we start our 14 day journey through Leviticus. And I know some of you are thinking Oh Lord help us, maybe we'll skip this book.😂 Leviticus isn't exactly the part of the Bible people cross stitch on pillows.
It's sacrifices, Blood, Fire, Instructions and more details. And after the drama and miracles of Exodus, the plagues, the Red Sea, the glory falling in the Tabernacle, reading Leviticus can feel heavy.
The very first thing God talks about after His glory fills the Tabernacle in Exodus 40 is sacrifice. I know we all want to just stay in his presence and bask in his glory, I get it. But in order for his glory to fall and remain we have to learn to sacrifice.
He doesn't start with expansion or strategy meetings. He starts with Sacrifice. Leviticus 1 starts with burnt offerings. We love the glory. We pray for the fire. We talk about wanting God’s presence to fall. But fire only falls on something placed on the altar. The burnt offering had to be brought and willingly given.
And it still works that way, surrender still works that way. But instead of sacrificing animals.or grain we are sacrificing our own lives to him. And God doesn't force us onto the altar. We have to climb up there ourselves.
He wants it all too.
Not just the good parts.
Not just Sunday morning Mandy.
Not just the ministry version.
All of it.
My attitude.
My pride.
My need to control.
My timeline.
My comfort.
Sometimes it's daily. It's what I choose to give back from what God has already given me.
Exodus was God bringing them out. Leviticus is God saying, "Now that you're free...let Me show you how to live." He's molding them and shaping their lives. And shaping isn't always comfortable. It never really is. But we need it.
So today Day 1 is simple.
Before we talk about clean and unclean.
Before we get into the thick of it all these next 14 days. We start here....
What am I actually laying down?
Because delivered people don't just celebrate freedom, They offer themselves back to the One who freed them.
And that's where our 14 days begin.
On the altar. 🔥
Let's prepare ourselves for the altar.
