Day 23 of 90 days Through the New Testament
Daily Reading John 1-3
John the Baptist has always fascinated me.
He wasn't flashy, well dressed, or trying to fit in with the religious crowd. He was a little wild, a little different and completely focused on one thing...Pointing people to Jesus.
When people tried to make him the main attraction, he shut it down fast.
He said, "I’m not the Light. I'm just the one preparing the way for Him."
It's easy to slip into wanting to be seen. Wanting the words I write, the work I do, the things I pour my heart into to shine.
But John reminds me that's not the goal.
We weren't meant to be the Light. We were meant to carry it.
We're the modern John the Baptists.
Our wilderness might look different, it might be our workplace, our Facebook page, our home, or the grocery store but the mission is the same... Point people to Jesus.
You don't have to have a microphone or a ministry title to do it.You just have to be willing to shine where you are.To love people like Jesus does.To speak truth with grace. To be a little light in someone's darkness. We don't save anyone, we just hold up the lantern so they can see the One who can.
John said, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
And that's still true today.
No matter how dark this world feels, the Light still wins.
Always has, always will!
So don't grow weary in your wilderness.
Keep shining. Keep pointing. Keep holding up the lantern.
Because someone out there is walking in darkness, just waiting to see the glow that leads them home. 💖
