Numbers chapter 1 isn't just a list of names.
They were being registered for war. Every man 20 years and older was counted. They had been delivered from Egypt, but they weren't just wandering aimlessly in the desert. There was purpose in the wandering and the waiting. They were preparing for what was ahead.
Deliverance was behind them. And Battle was coming. And before they made any move forward, God made sure they were accounted for.
Then in chapter 2, He organizes the camp, three tribes on each side and places the Tabernacle right in the center.
They were counted for war and then positioned around His presence. That's important to me. They were positioned for war and the Tabernacle, that held the Spirit of God, was at the center. God needs to be at thw center of anything we do. Especially when we prepare for war.
Anyone else feeling like it's time to get organized?
As we watch the Bible unfold in front of us, as the world feels louder, as things feel like they're shifting, I can't help but sense it.
This is not the season to be scattered.
This is not the season for us to drift.
It's a season to get aligned with him.
God counted them.
God arranged them.
God was at the center of them.
Maybe this wilderness season you're in isn't a delay.
Maybe it's a time of registration. A time of stepping up and being counted.
He's preparing us for what's ahead.
We are being positioned and we need to be sure that He is still at the center. Always!
