One minute Praised. The next Minute Running.

Good morning friends.

One minute you're stepping up for God and being praised for killing a giant, and the next you're running for your life, living among your enemies, and hiding in a cave.

That's where we find David in 1 Samuel 21-22. One chapter he's standing in victory.

The next chapter he's running in fear for his life. One moment people are singing his praises. The next minute they're throwing spears at him. One day he's in the palace. The next day he's hiding in a cave.

Life can feel like that sometimes. We think if we're faithful enough, obedient enough, and serving God enough, everything should just keep getting better. But David's story reminds us that faithfulness doesn't exempt us from wilderness seasons.

Sometimes the very person who killed the giant finds himself hiding in a cave. And if we're not careful, we'll think the cave means we've missed God. But God can take a cave that looks like punishment and turn it into a time of preparation.

David probably thought he was losing everything. The palace. His position. His comfort. His reputation. But while David sat in that cave, God was building something else. The Bible says those who were distressed, in debt, and discontented began gathering around him.Now that's not exactly who most people would choose to build a kingdom with.

But God saw something different. God was building an army. God was building leaders.

God was building a king.

The cave isn't where the story ends. And it doesnt have to be where yours ends either.

It can become the place where God begins putting the pieces together. A place where He teaches us that His presence matters more than the palace.

David may have lost the palace. But he didn't lose God. David lost temporary comforts. But he didn't lose God. He lost the applause of people. But he didn't lose God.

If you've ever found yourself in an Adullam season, wondering how you went from victory to survival mode, from celebration to hiding, remember that the cave did not cancel God's calling. The cave was part of it.

Sometimes God does His deepest work in the places we'd never choose for ourselves.

And if He could build a king in a cave, He can still build something beautiful in us too even in our mess.

Faith Anchors. Hope Moves. Chains Break.
